About Us

At Newsome-Bailey, our desire is to be a beacon of hope in Christ, encouraging students to know their worth and the God who created them as they become confident, capable, life-long learners.

In 2007, a group of volunteer tutors were concerned about the excessive dropout rate of students attending public schools in their community. The need for a long-term solution led to the eventual formation of the Newsome-Bailey Project—a holistic intervention program designed to bring positive changes to underserved students through the application of support services like tutoring, mentoring, parent engagement and community partnerships.

We are a 501(c)(3), Nonprofit organization made up of people committed to improving the cognitive learning skills of underserved students, and walking alongside their families to encourage well-being and spiritual growth.

The Mission

The mission of the Newsome-Bailey Project is to empower students to become life-long learners. A typical candidate for the Newsome-Bailey program is a child from a low-income household who is struggling in one or more core academic subjects (reading, writing, spelling and math), and one who is not eligible for special education services.  We try to catch them up BEFORE they fall through the cracks.
