Equipping Students to Learn — Helping Families to Grow

Who We Are

The Newsome-Bailey Project is a Christian nonprofit, based in Newport News, Virginia. Tutors and volunteers work together to equip and empower underserved students and their families.

What We Do

Our program includes intentional in-school tutoring of students who have been identified as those most in need. We work on the problem areas that have been targeted by teachers and specialists. We primarily work with “identified” kindergartners - second graders in the Hampton Roads area of VA.  We’re open to expanding anywhere there is a core group of volunteers who are invested in their neighborhood school(s).

We occasionally host teacher/staff support events in schools which lack active Parent-Teacher Organizations. We conduct annual school supply drives, participate in Read Across America.  We host FREE student camps throughout our community.
